It's Time to Start Preparing for the Significant Updates to the MDS 3.0 v1.18.11 Item Set

Annually, CMS anticipates releasing revised MDS Item Sets to enhance collection of resident information from nursing homes.  However, due to the pandemic, CMS has not revised the MDS which is leading to significant changes post-pandemic.  CMS has already released a draft version of the MDS Item Sets and anticipates releasing the draft Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) manual soon.  This webinar will provide attendees updated coding and instructions based on the draft RAI manual to assist nursing home providers with the preparation for the final release October 1, 2023, and aid in successful implementation.  Identify items from the IMPACT Act of 2014 that are now part of the MDS 3.0 v1.18.11 and their importance for LTC.

Essentials of the LTC Director of Nursing Role

LeadingAge Kentucky is pleased to announce a virtual series that will take place in three segments over the first half of 2023 that will aid in developing the Director if Nursing (DON) role in nursing homes.  Elements of this series will focus on budgeting and quality assurance; survey processes and regulations; and human resources, customer services, and leadership.

Each segment of this series is designed to provide in-depth information and discussion on each topic without taking the series in a sequential order or taking all 3 sections of the series.  By making each of the 3 segments standalone, you can better address succession planning by having individuals attend as their nurse leadership skills are identified.  Additional sections in this series will be added to the events calendar for March and June.  Please contact Rhonda Hoyer if you have any questions.

Session Spotlight: Lessons to Embrace from the COVID Pandemic

Systemic imperfections have been revealed across the post-acute care continuum during the COVID Pandemic.  Some of them underscored the magnitude and urgency of issues that were already suspected of causing health or safety risks for both residents and caregivers. This interactive session will describe selected opportunities identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services for implementing policies that foster inter-agency and/or regulator-provider collaboration - to the ultimate benefit of long-term care community residents, staff or the families of either.  Which interventions and approaches launched in the tense climate of a public health emergency had the most positive impact?  Which of them deserve consideration as the most promising for us to keep through changes in statute, regulation or practice standards?  Click here for more information.
